What is Torrenting?

Torrenting is the act of downloading and uploading files through the BitTorrent network. Instead of downloading files to a central server, torrenting involves downloading files from other users’ devices on the network. Conversely, users upload files from their own devices for other users to download.

Torrenting is often associated with piracy because it’s frequently used to share files that are protected by copyright, including movies, games, music, and software. However, torrenting has many legitimate uses as well, such as lessening the load on centralized servers by distributing the hosting burden among users.

These are tools that we use. There are many alternatives, but these work well for us, and we can easily explain everything.

qBittorent (the downloader program)

Tips
👉 Try not to be a leech when your downloading.
-Keep at least a 1/1 ratio to be fair with outhers (take one, give one).
-If you leech too much you will be throttled or banned from some seeders.
-Share and be fair!

VLC (the video player)
👉 VLC media player is a free and open-source, portable, cross-platform media player software and streaming media server developed by the VideoLAN project.

Tips

MetaX (Poster Inserter)
👉 When you want your movies to look as good as those purchased from iTunes, with cover art, descriptions, ratings, actors and more, you NEED MetaX.

Tip
👉 Although the NOVA app will insert the cover poster of the movie for you, it's a good idea to use MetaX to update the video file with the proper poster.
When you view your videos on your PC in file manager you will notice that some videos have a nice DVD cover image, and others just show a still image of a scene in the movie. This still images look like crap, so this is where you load up MetaX and open that video file and insert the proper poster image.
MetaX will search internet for poster for you.
Just looks nicer, not required!

WinRAR (unarchiving)
👉 WinRAR is a trialware file archiver utility for Windows, developed by Eugene Roshal of win.rar GmbH. It can create and view archives in RAR or ZIP file formats, and unpack numerous archive file formats.

Nova Video Player (FireTV)

Tips
👉 You can use the app on your Amazon FireTV to arganize and watch your movies.

USB Flash Drive (Portable Movies)
👉 Take your movies with you!
Going to a friends house or vaction?
Most hotels have modern flat screen TV's that have USB ports.
Just plug it in and change the source output on the TV.
Some TV's will automatically switch to the USB port when you plug in.
Tip
👉 Moives in 1080 format are usually about 2 gigabytes.
Movies usually come 720/1080/21604k.
We usally download 1080, it looks great on big screen.
We download 2160 for movies that have lots of action and special effects.
2160 is much bigger in download size.

👉 For a small price of only $50, and a few hours, we can set this up for you! Just be sure you have downloaded all the software and purchased the Buffalo NAS server from Amazon. You can also purchase a different type if you like, or use an existing one. If you decide to purchase a different type or use your own, be advised there may be additional fees. I can only guarantee this 2 hours setup with all the options listed above.
We will charge $20 for each addtional hour after the first two.
Please note that learning how to do all of this takes time. You can learn on your own, or have us tutor you during and after the installation.
